Vietnam to Qualify For World Cup 2022

The FIFA World Cup is an annual international association football competition contested by the senior men's national teams of member associations of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association. The competition is the largest in the world and is a huge spectacle. The finals are held in Russia each year. This event is the most watched sporting event in the entire year. The tournament takes place in South Africa each year and is held every four years. The winning team wins the title of World Champions.

In 2026, the world will see an expanded version of the vòng loại world cup with 48 teams. The initial tournament will have a 32-team field, with a single spot reserved for the host country. Thirteen spots will be allocated to countries in Europe, five to Africa, four and a half to Asia and four and a half to South America. North and Central America and the Caribbean will receive three and a half spots. The Pacific region will receive two slots.

The Olympic side of Vietnam, however, failed to qualify for the World Cup due to a lack of talent. Coach Nguyen Huu Thang was relieved of duty and the team fell on hard times. The lack of success resulted in a lack of confidence among the fans. An interim coach was appointed to help the Vietnamese team in their Asian Cup qualifiers against Cambodia and Uzbekistan. The new coach rekindled the team's spirit and was rewarded with a 5-0 home win over the former rivals. The result allowed the Vietnamese to join the top two teams in the tournament and claim a final ticket.
